The Power of Positive Affirmations: How to Overcome Negative Self-Talk
Hey Friend! I hope you are doing well, and I hope the new year is off to a great start for you and your family.

Welcome back to my slice of the world! Today I would like to talk with you about a topic that I relive strongly in... The power of positive affirmations, and using them to overcome negative self talk.
Well my passion is empowering women to reach their goals, get healthy, and kick life's ass! The reason why I am so passionate about this.. I know what it's like to have self doubt, to think and feel like I'm fat and ugly... and simply not feel good enough. I still some times have self doubt.. and I still have negative self talk time to time.... after all we are human and perfectly imperfect! But I believe in positive affirmations. I believe in something called a personal power statement.
So the first step in overcoming negative self talk is... to become aware of it. Negative self-talk can become so familiar to us that we may not even realize we are engaging in it. Negative self-talk can take many forms such as labeling ourselves, making negative predictions about the future, or engaging in black and white thinking. Once we become aware of our negative self-talk, we can start to challenge it!
With practice, we can learn to replace negative self-talk with more positive and empowering self talk, which can improve our overall wellbeing and self esteem.
Step 2! Identify the underlying beliefs and assumptions that fuel these negative thoughts. Often, negative self-talk is rooted in deeply held beliefs that we have about ourselves, our abilities, and the world around us.
Here's one I find myself battling ... I do not look like the personal trainer you would see on the cover of a magazine. Often times other trainers are surprised to learn I am in fact a personal trainer.
I'm short and I have HAT syndrome (Hips Ass, and Thighs) I have always had "weight issues" But! Guess what my clients tell me.. that I look good and they are happy I'm not "super duper fit"! Completely surprised!
So once you have identified these underlying beliefs, you can begin to challenge them and work on replacing them with more positive and empowering beliefs. This can take time and effort, but with practice, you can train your mind to think more positively and constructively about yourself and your abilities.
The third step in overcoming negative self-talk is to reframe your thoughts. This is where our personal powerful statements come in. Once you have identified the negative thought and challenged its validity, you can then replace it with a more positive or neutral thought. For example, if you have the thought "I'm not good enough," you can reframe it by saying, "I may not be perfect, but I am doing my best."
Lastly, remember to take things one day at a time. I understand that life can be challenging at times, but I want to assure you that you have what it takes to persevere. You can and you will overcome any obstacles you may face. Just keep pushing forward and never give up on yourself.
Love and Light always,
