Six After Workout Snacks!
Hello my friend and welcome back to Friday Fitness Talks! Today I wanna chat with you about what to eat after you workout. Right next door to my gym is this mom and pop fast food place.. here in Maryland it's called a carryout.. never heard of that term until I moved here. Anyways without fail EVERY and I do mean every time I come out of the gym I smell whatever they are cooking and it smells soooooo good.
So far I haven't given in and I think this is for two reasons. One when I finish my workout I start drinking water like it's going out of style. My goal is to finish my 50 oz (1.5 L) by the time I get home. Secondly I always have a healthy snack in my car waiting for me. Today I had a banana.
Healthy eating plays a HUGE role in losing weight, or just having a healthy lifestyle. So having this list of six after workout snacks will help you as you learn how to balance your eating habits!

So like I said a few moments ago I had a banana after today's workout. Bananas are a great source of carbohydrates and are rich in dopamine and polyphenols, which are essential chemicals. When combined with other chemicals, they may help prevent post-exercise inflammation, promoting faster healing. So have a banana on your next leg day!
Now I am not a fan of pouched or canned tuna... but this is a quick and great source of protein. If you pair it with crackers you are also getting a hit of carbs and sodium which your body needs after a really good workout! Try to eat whole grain crackers for extra points!
3rd on our list is high-quality protein powder! According to the Cleveland Clinic, when purchasing protein powder, it's best to choose ones with minimal ingredients and no added sugars, fillers, artificial sweeteners, or preservatives in order to ensure high quality.
Not a fan of protein powder or tuna, then a hard boiled egg might work for you!
Hard boiled eggs are a rich source of critical vitamins and minerals, like vitamin B12 and D, iron, and selenium. These nutrients play a key role in maintaining good health and wellbeing, and can even help to boost energy levels, which is particularly advantageous after a rigorous workout.
Peanut butter is a fantastic option for many reasons. It is high in protein, which is crucial for repairing and building muscle tissue that can be damaged during intense exercise. Peanut butter also provides healthy fats to the body that offer sustained energy during the post-workout period. This can help prevent muscle fatigue and soreness while also promoting faster recovery.
Do you workout first thing in the morning?? You should try Kodiak blueberry waffles OMG they are soooooo good! And a great source of protein! Having a healthy meal after working out is good for you. One thing you do not want to do is not provide your body the fuel it needs.
Make sure to drink plenty of water and also stretch after you workout.
And remember abs are made in the kitchen!
Have a lovely weekend! Be safe if it snows!
